We're kicking off the Season with our 10th Annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree and Turkey Gumbo Cook-Off on Saturday, November 24. This event is so fun and gets bigger and bigger every year. There's something for everyone!
Below is the tentative schedule of events for the day:
3:30 pm – 7:00 pm Children activities – North Pole Play Land
3:45 pm Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive
4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Gumbo Service
7:00 pm Winner announced - Lighting of Christmas Tree and Special Pyrotechnic Show
Mark your calendar for the Christmas parade, Saturday, December 1st at 5:30 p.m. The theme this year is “Light Your Way to Christmas” and line-up begins at 4:00pm on Broadway. Get creative and be MERRY AND BRIGHT!
Friday, December 6th, the 2nd annual Family Christmas Fest from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the court yard at the Visitor’s Center. Santa’s elves will be there as well as one of the best Santa’s helpers, Burnley Cook. If you or your school or Church group want to participate and receive service hours or make a few dollars, contact Anna Jones, at email@example.com. So many fun activities are in store for the kids as well as, hayrides to view the great International Paper displays, vintage and new!
If you’re still feeling Scroogy, Vintage Christmas Caroling in Memorial Park will be the thing to put you in the holiday spirit. Sunday, December 16th at 6:00 p.m., please come join the Jefferson Street choir and other guests as they lead us in Christmas caroling and remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.
Candlelight dinners, a Christmas Cabaret, choirs singing, a Library tour, a Christmas Tea, Homemade Holiday art, tours of a “Jeweled Christmas at the Towers”, a Holiday Half-Marathon are just a few of the events that will complete the holiday package. Just check the schedule of events to be sure you don’t miss out! It’s going to be a wonderful season!!!!
